Profhilo®

What is Profhilo®?

Profhilo® is a revolutionary anti-ageing treatment that improves skin firmness, tone, and elasticity. Through a series of small injections, Profhilo® provides deep hydration and stimulation of new collagen and elastin, helping to give a youthful appearance to the face, neck and other areas of the body.

How does Profhilo® work?

Profhilo® has one of the highest hyaluronic acid concentrations on the market. It provides deep hydration by attracting and retaining water from the body and stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin in the skin. This results in the firming, tightening, and hydrating effects for which Profhilo® is famous.

What does Profhilo® do for your face?

Profhilo® can treat a wide range of ageing signs – As we age, our bodies’ natural hyaluronic acid levels decrease, causing the skin to become dull, dehydrated, and sag. Profhilo®adds hyaluronic acid to the skin, resulting in increased firmness, tone, and elasticity of the skin, resulting in a more youthful appearance.

Which areas can be treated with Profhilo®?

The most commonly treated area is the face, where Profhilo® is especially effective in increasing firmness and elasticity and improving skin quality.

However, Profhilo® can be used in a range of areas, including:

  • Arms
  • Buttocks
  • Chest
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Knees
  • Neck
  • Stomach

When will I see results from Profhilo®?

The entire face can be treated with Profhilo® in 15 minutes, and results can be seen after two treatments taking place 4 weeks apart.

Optimal results can be seen approximately4 weeks after the second treatment.

How long does Profhilo® last?

Depending on the individual, the effects of a Profhilo® treatment can last up to 6 months. The duration depends on several factors, including initial skin condition and lifestyle.

What can I expect during treatment?

Step 1: The Consultation

Miss Hawkes will invite you to the Cadogan Clinic for a consultation lasting approximately 30 minutes.

Miss Hawkes will ask about your general health and medical history and listen to your concerns. She will discuss the standard risks and benefits with you and identify any additional risks in your specific case. She will advise you on potential outcomes and help you set realistic and attainable treatment goals.

You must complete a medical questionnaire and sign a consent form before treatment begins.

Step 2: The Treatment

Miss Hawkes will examine the skin and mark the injection areas after thorough cleansing and disinfecting. If a numbing cream is being used, this will be applied before injection.

Miss Hawkes will inject Profhilo® beneath the skin’s surface as per the agreed treatment plan.

Step 3: Aftercare and Follow-Ups

Miss Hawkes will provide aftercare information and discuss any required follow-up appointments. Most patients undergo a second treatment 4 weeks after the first.

FAQ

Certain medical conditions may mean you are unsuitable for treatment with Profhilo®. This includes:

  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Blood clotting disorders
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Immunosuppression (either medical or drug-related)
  • Rheumatoid arthritis

Certain allergies, including bee sting allergy, could mean you are unsuitable for treatment with Profhilo®.

However, Miss Hawkes will help determine your suitability for surgical and non-surgical treatments.

Are there any skin conditions that could prevent me from being suitable for Profhilo®?

The use of Roaccutane®o risotretinoinin the past 6 months or recent dermal filler injections could mean you are unsuitable for treatment with Profhilo®.

Miss Hawkes will help determine your suitability.

At what age should you undergo Profhilo®?

Rather than a question of age, suitability for Profhilo® is based on skin condition. It is an excellent treatment for anyone wishing to keep their skin healthy and youthful or for people starting to see obvious indicators of skin ageing. Clients are typically aged 30+.

Can I apply makeup after a Profhilo® treatment?

To reduce the risk of infection, please avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours after treatment.

Can I have Profhilo® while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Profhilo® is not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women or those undergoing IVF treatment.

Can Profhilo® be combined with other treatments?

Profhilo® can be used alone or alongside other treatments such as facial fillers, Botox and laser treatments.

How is Profhilo® different to dermal fillers?

Profhilo® functions as a ‘bioremodelling agent’.

Profhilo® and dermal fillers are effective anti ageing skin treatments and share a few characteristics. One of which is the presence of hyaluronic acid, which aids in the plumping and filling of wrinkles.

However, the crucial difference between the 2 treatments is that Profhilo® also stimulates collagen and elastin production - improving skin tone, hydration, and wrinkles.

Profhilo® is an appropriate treatment if you want results that can be seen across your entire face. Dermal filler treatments are better suited for the augmentation of specific areas of your face, such as the cheeks.

How long does a Profhilo® treatment take?

A Profhilo® treatment takes approximately 15 minutes, with two treatment sessions carried out 4 weeks apart. This is followed by a maintenance treatment every6-12 months afterwards.

How long will it be before I can return to work?

You should be able to return to work immediately after your Profhilo® treatment. However, please bear in mind that, as with all injection treatments, redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites is likely and that there may be visible lumps at the injection sites.

Miss Hawkes advises you not to apply makeup for24 hours after treatment to minimise the risk of infection.

How often do I need to have treatment?

Miss Hawkes recommends you have2 treatments, 4 weeks apart. This is followed by a maintenance treatment every6-12 months afterwards.

Is a Profhilo® treatment painful?

During the treatment, you may feel a slight burning or stinging sensation. However, the treatment is injected with fine needles. Miss Hawkes may use a numbing cream to relieve the pain.

You may feel a slight tenderness after the treatment, but you should not feel any pain.

Is Profhilo® better than Botulinum Toxin?

Both Profhilo® and Botulinum Toxin are effective anti ageing treatments, but they work differently.

Botulinum Toxin -Botulinum Toxin is a neurotoxin, inhibiting communication between nerves and muscles. The muscle in the injected area is temporarily paralysed, softening wrinkles and preventing new ones from forming.

Profhilo® -Profhilo® works differently. As an injectable bioremodelling agent with one of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, it is a suitable treatment for those who wish to increase firmness and elasticity and improve the skin’s overall quality.

The results of Profhilo® look very natural. However, Profhilo® can be used with other injectable treatments, including Botulinum Toxin, to achieve optimal results.

Is Profhilo® better than dermal fillers?

It is important to understand that treatment with Profhilo® is different from treatment with a dermal filler and that each treatment gives different results.

Profhilo® and dermal fillers are both effective non-surgical treatments that share some characteristics. One of them is the presence of hyaluronic acid, which helps plump up the skin and fill wrinkles.

Dermal fillers -Dermal filler treatments are suitable for targeting specific areas of your face to fill in, such as the cheeks or lips.

Profhilo® -Profhilo® acts as an injectable bio remodelling agent instead of a dermal filler. It is a suitable treatment if you want visible results throughout the entire face.

However, the main difference between the two treatments is that Profhilo® is a bio remodelling agent, not a filler. It stimulates collagen and elastin production, improving skin tone and hydration and smoothing out wrinkles.

Ultimately, Miss Hawkes will help you determine which treatment(s) are best for you. Sometimes, a multidisciplinary approach with combination treatments may be appropriate. Profhilo® can be alongside dermal fillers to achieve optimal results.

Is Profhilo® good for jowls?

Profhilo® is one good treatment for jowls because it gives your skin an intense boost of hyaluronic acid and helps stimulate collagen and elastin to tighten and lift your skin. However, Miss Hawkes will assess your suitability for Profhilo® on an individual basis as there may be other treatments that are more suitable for treating this concern.

Is Profhilo® just for the face, or can it be used on the body?

Profhilo® can be used on the body. Its effects are not limited to the face alone:

  • Arms
  • Buttocks
  • Chest
  • Décolletage
  • Hands
  • Knees
  • Neck
  • Stomach

Is Profhilo® safe?

Profhilo® is a low-risk anti-ageing treatment. No treatment is without risk, and all risks will be discussed during your consultation with Ms Hawkes.

Profhilo® is a treatment that uses hyaluronic acid injections, a natural substance found in the skin. As a pure hyaluronic acid filler with no additives, Profhilo® has been shown to have fewer side effects than traditional hyaluronic acid fillers.

Is Profhilo® worth it?

Many clients wonder if Profhilo® is worth it. Whether a treatment is “worth it” depends on the individual patient, but Profhilo® is considered an effective, safe treatment for refreshing and tightening the skin.

Some of the benefits of treatment with Profhilo® are:

  • Better skin- Patients can expect improved skin texture and quality, as well as increased firmness and elasticity.
  • Natural results- Profhilo® treatments help turn back the clock by improving the skin rather than dramatically augmenting facial features or smoothing wrinkles.
  • Minimal maintenance- The first two treatments are performed 4 weeks apart with maintenance treatments every 6-12 months.
  • Versatile product- Profilo is a versatile product that can be used on the face and the rest of the body to improve skin firmness, elasticity, and overall skin.
  • Quick treatment- Profhilo® can treat the entire face in about 15 minutes

Post-treatment advice

Most people can resume normal daily activities after treatment. As with all injectable treatments, there may be redness, tenderness, swelling at the injection sites, and visible lumps. Bruising may also be visible after treatment and can be quite pronounced.

  • Avoid extreme heat or cold and strenuous activity until the swelling has subsided.
  • If the swelling persists, a cooling pad may be recommended.
  • If you experience any undesirable side effects, contact Miss Hawkes.
  • Massaging the treated area is unnecessary; the product spreads itself.
  • Sauna sessions, swimming and sunbathing should be avoided until swelling and redness of the skin have subsided.
  • To reduce the risk of infection, do not wear makeup for 24 hours post-treatment

What does Profhilo® do?

Profhilo® can help with many cosmetic concerns.

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin laxity (loose or sagging skin)
  • Dull or dehydrated looking skin

What happens to collagen and elastin production over time?

As we age, collagen and elastin break down, and production slows. Skin quality and elasticity decrease, resulting in thinner, sagging skin and fine lines, and wrinkles can appear. Facial expressions, sun exposure and other environmental factors can also contribute to facial signs of ageing.

What is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring and degrading gel like substance in our eyes, skin and bodies. It can hold 1,000times its weight in water and excels at making skin smooth and moisturised.

What role do collagen and elastin play in the skin?

Collagen is a protein accounting for70-80%of our skin. It is necessary for skin strength, providing structural integrity, and can aid in elasticity and moisture.

Elastin is another protein found in the skin that contributes to skin elasticity. Elastin helps your skin return to its original shape when you stretch, poke, or squeeze it.
