Women with glowing skin receives injection to the cheek area

Profhilo® is a revolutionary anti-ageing treatment that *improves skin firmness, tone, elasticity* and more.

How does Profhilo® work?

Through a series of small injections, Profhilo® provides deep hydration and stimulation of new collagen and elastin, helping to give a youthful appearance to the face, neck and other areas of the body.

Profhilo® has one of the highest hyaluronic acid concentrations on the market. It provides deep hydration by attracting and retaining water from the body and stimulates four different types of collagen and elastin in the skin. This results in the firming, tightening, and hydrating effects for which Profhilo® is famous.

How long does a typical treatment session take?

A Profhilo® treatment takes approximately 15 minutes, with two treatment sessions carried out 4 weeks apart. This is followed by a maintenance treatment every 6-12 months afterwards.

What downtime is associated with Profhilo® treatment?

Profhilo® treatment has minimal downtime. You may experience mild redness, swelling, or small lumps at injection sites, typically resolving within 24-48 hours. Bruising is rare and fades quickly. Normal activities can resume almost immediately, with minor restrictions for 24 hours.

When will I see results, and how long can I expect them to last?

Results can be seen after two treatments taking place 4 weeks apart. Optimal results can be seen approximately 4 weeks after the second treatment. Depending on the individual, the effects of a Profhilo® treatment can last up to 6 months. The duration depends on several factors, including initial skin condition and lifestyle.

TESTIMONIALS

Happy patients

I have had a few aesthetic treatments with Dr Elizabeth now, namely Botox, polynucleotides and profilho. Each and every time Dr Elizabeth has been very approachable and informative regarding details and processes. She is always happy to answer any questions I may have. I am really happy with my results so far having had no downtime nor bruising which I know is down to her preferred cannula techniques. I am still mid treatment plan but the improvements I am seeing already are very impressive! The clinic and staff I cannot fault either, always friendly and helpful. Their communication has been excellent as well. I highly recommended Dr Elizabeth, her team and clinic.

Are there any medical conditions that could prevent me from being suitable for Profhilo®?

Certain medical conditions may mean you are unsuitable for treatment with Profhilo®. This includes:
  • Autoimmune conditions
  • Blood clotting disorders
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Immunosuppression (either medical or drug-related)
  • Rheumatoid arthritis
Certain allergies, including bee sting allergy, could mean you are unsuitable for treatment with Profhilo®. However, Miss Hawkes will help determine your suitability for surgical and non-surgical treatments.

Are there any skin conditions that could prevent me from being suitable for Profhilo®?

The use of Roaccutane® or isotretinoin in the past 6 months or recent dermal filler injections could mean you are unsuitable for treatment with Profhilo®. Miss Hawkes will help determine your suitability.

At what age should you undergo Profhilo®?

Rather than a question of age, suitability for Profhilo® is based on skin condition. It is an excellent treatment for anyone wishing to keep their skin healthy and youthful or for people starting to see obvious indicators of skin ageing. Clients are typically aged 30+.

Can I apply makeup after a Profhilo® treatment?

To reduce the risk of infection, please avoid wearing makeup for 24 hours after treatment.

Can I have Profhilo® while pregnant or breastfeeding?

Profhilo® is not suitable for pregnant/breastfeeding women or those undergoing IVF treatment.

Can Profhilo® be combined with other treatments?

Profhilo® can be used alone or alongside other treatments such as facial fillers, Botox and laser treatments.

How is Profhilo® different to dermal fillers?

Profhilo® functions as a ‘bioremodelling agent’. While Profhilo® and dermal fillers are both effective anti-ageing skin treatments and contain hyaluronic acid, Profhilo® also stimulates collagen and elastin production, improving skin tone, hydration, and wrinkles. Profhilo® offers results that affect the entire face, whereas dermal fillers target specific areas, such as the cheeks.

How long will it be before I can return to work?

You should be able to return to work immediately after your Profhilo® treatment. However, please bear in mind that, as with all injection treatments, redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites is likely, and there may be visible lumps. Miss Hawkes advises not applying makeup for 24 hours after treatment to minimise infection risk.

How often do I need to have treatment?

Miss Hawkes recommends two treatments, four weeks apart, followed by a maintenance treatment every 6–12 months.

Is a Profhilo® treatment painful?

During the treatment, you may feel a slight burning or stinging sensation. However, the treatment is injected with fine needles, and a numbing cream may be used to relieve the pain. You may feel a slight tenderness after the treatment, but you should not feel any pain.

Is Profhilo® better than Botulinum Toxin?

Both Profhilo® and Botulinum Toxin are effective anti-ageing treatments but work differently. Botulinum Toxin temporarily paralyses muscles to soften wrinkles, while Profhilo® increases skin firmness and elasticity. Profhilo® can be combined with Botulinum Toxin to achieve optimal results.

Is Profhilo® better than dermal fillers?

Profhilo® acts as an injectable bioremodelling agent and affects the entire face, stimulating collagen and elastin production to improve skin tone, hydration, and smooth out wrinkles. Dermal fillers are suited for augmenting specific areas, such as the cheeks or lips. Miss Hawkes can determine the best treatment or combination of treatments for you.

Is Profhilo® good for jowls?

Profhilo® is suitable for treating jowls as it provides an intense boost of hyaluronic acid and stimulates collagen and elastin to tighten and lift the skin. Miss Hawkes will assess your suitability for Profhilo® based on individual needs.

Is Profhilo® just for the face, or can it be used on the body?

Profhilo® is not limited to the face; it can be used on other areas, including arms, buttocks, chest, décolletage, hands, knees, neck, and stomach.

Is Profhilo® safe?

Profhilo® is a low-risk anti-ageing treatment, using pure hyaluronic acid with no additives, which has been shown to have fewer side effects than traditional fillers. Risks will be discussed in your consultation with Miss Hawkes.

Is Profhilo® worth it?

Many find Profhilo® an effective, safe treatment for refreshing and tightening the skin. Benefits include improved skin texture, natural results, minimal maintenance, versatility for face and body, and quick treatment times (around 15 minutes).

Post-treatment advice

Most can resume daily activities after treatment, but there may be redness, tenderness, swelling, and bruising at the injection sites.
  • Avoid extreme temperatures and strenuous activity until swelling subsides.
  • A cooling pad may be used if swelling persists.
  • Contact Miss Hawkes if you experience undesirable side effects.
  • Avoid sauna, swimming, and sunbathing until skin redness has subsided.
  • Do not wear makeup for 24 hours post-treatment.

What can I expect during treatment?

Step 1: The Consultation – Miss Hawkes will conduct a consultation at the Cadogan Clinic to discuss your health, expectations, and set realistic treatment goals. You must complete a medical questionnaire and consent form before treatment.
Step 2: The Treatment – After cleansing and disinfecting, Miss Hawkes will mark the injection areas and inject Profhilo® beneath the skin.
Step 3: Aftercare and Follow-Ups – Aftercare information and follow-up appointments will be discussed. Most patients have a second treatment four weeks after the first.

What does Profhilo® do for your face?

Profhilo® can treat a wide range of ageing signs by adding hyaluronic acid to the skin, increasing firmness, tone, and elasticity, resulting in a youthful appearance.

What happens to collagen and elastin production over time?

As we age, collagen and elastin production decreases, leading to thinner, sagging skin with fine lines and wrinkles. Environmental factors and facial expressions also contribute to these signs of ageing.

What role do collagen and elastin play in the skin?
